Interlibrary Loans
Requesting Books from Other Libraries
Can't find the book you want in our catalogue? Try finding it at another BC public library using Outlook Online.
Please remember that you are limited to 3 interlibrary loan requests, that interlibrary loans are for books only and that new books published in the last 12 months cannot be interlibrary loaned. As well, due to the expense of bringing in material from other libraries it is necessary to charge a $5 fee when interlibrary loans are not picked up after being requested.
- Start by searching Outlook Online.
- If you find more than one record for the title you want, choose the one with the most Locations. This number is in brackets following Locations.
- Click on the title to select the record you want. The full entry for the record will be displayed.
- Click on the golden rod coloured "Request This Item" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
- A new window with an ILL request form will open up. Enter your information into the following fields:
- Patron Name: Enter your name in the order: Last Name, First Name.
- Password: Enter the last four (4) digits of your library card number.
- Library Card: Enter your library card number in full.
- Phone Number or E-mail Address: Enter your phone number with area code or e-mail address. You need to provide this so the library can contact you when the item arrives.
Note: Patron Name, Password and Phone Number/E-mail Address are mandatory fields. If you do not add them the request will not be accepted. All other fields are optional.
- When you are finished, click on the Submit button.
