The following guidelines require the user to understand how to configure and restore the settings of their own wireless device. Library staff is unable to assist in configuring users personal devices.
To connect to the WPL wireless network, configure or select the following:
Users do not need to log onto the network. Simply open an internet browser and click on the link “Click here for internet access without log-in”.
This is a shared resource, the speed of the connection may vary depending on, but not limited to, factors such as distance from the access point, the number of users currently connected, and the status of the user’s equipment.
The wireless network is only available during hours that the library is open.
Wireless network access is self-serve. Users are responsible for configuring their personal equipment.
WPL cannot guarantee that users will be able to connect to the library’s wireless network and reserves the right to disconnect wireless service at any time without notice.
Library printers are not connected to the wireless network.
WPL is unable to supply electrical power to all wireless network users. Users will need a fully charged battery for their wireless device.
WPL accepts no responsibility for loss of data files while connected to the wireless network.
Users must not leave their laptop or any other wireless device unattended. WPL accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items.
The WPL wireless network name (SSID) is whistlerlibrary. Other wireless networks may be accessible from within the library, but are either not provided by the library, or not available for public use.
Users should use any wireless network, including the library wireless network with caution and be particularly careful about sending personal information such as credit card numbers or passwords.
The library does not monitor the content that users access over the network.
Users are granted access to the library network and it is for using library and Internet resources only. It is not permitted to run a server.
All users are expected to use the library’s wireless network in a legal and responsible manner in accordance with WPL’s Internet Use policy.
