Review by Dylan - Grade 7
The Giver is about a boy named Jonas who is selected to be the next "receiver of memory".
I really liked The Giver because it is set in a place that has a completely different way of living and everything has to be a certain way for the community to function.
The Giver by Lois Lowry was read by the Grade 7/8 Book Club in November 2008

The Bonemender is an AWESOME book!!! I would absolutely rate it a five and 2 thumbs up!!! If you have ever wanted to meet an elf (little kids) or if you are a warrior or even a bonemender then you HAVE to read this book! I never would have read this book if I just saw it on a random shelf. But I did read it because one of the librarians at the Whistler Public Library suggested it for anyone in the younger aged book club (the one I am in) because she thought some of us might like and that it was from the older teenagers book club. No one read it but me, but I loved it! I even suggested it to one of my friends who adores reading and she said, “ No, it’s stupid! “ I was shocked when she said that because I think it is an awesome book and that I know she would love this book just as much as any of her other precious books she has read. But I know a lot of people who would definetly like this book but would never give it a chance. When I first got the book I thought, “ Oh, well this won’t be entertaining “ but when I actually started the book I thought, “ Oh my gosh, this is amazing! “ And now that I finished the book I am reading the second and I wish to read the whole series! So, please if you like anything about the book that I have just said then what are you waiting for! READ IT! Go to your school library or public library and check it out!

I loved the Ranger’s Apprentice! It was the first book we read in book club and at first it was not that interesting for me but after the first few chapters it was wonderful! I would rate it a 4 star because I really liked it but I have read a few other books that I enjoyed a little more. When I talked to one of my friends she said she did not quite like it. I think she only said that because it was not the kind of book she usually reads. I would say she usually read something more sweet and girly, sometimes. I didn’t get a chance to speak with anyone else but from what I have heard I think most people have liked it. I wish other people I knew read this book because most of my friends and classmates would also like Ranger’s Apprentice, I think. I thought Ranger’s Apprentice was very entertaining and a little bit freaky at some points but it was still very good. I own the Ranger’s Apprentice series by John Flanagan and I am reading it right now too! I thought the series had only 4 books (the ones I own) but when I was at Chapters bookstore in Vancouver (the one close to the Pacific Center) I saw a fifth book in the series. So now I know there are 5 in the series but there could always be more!
