SUMMARY:EXTERNAL: Embracing Truth: Honouring the National Day for Reconciliation
DESCRIPTION:National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a day for Canadians to commemorate the history and legacy of the residential school system. It’s a day to honour the resilience, dignity and strength of survivors and remember the children who never came home. It’s a chance to engage and educate people about B.C.’s colonial history and how it has and continues to impact Indigenous communities.\nCommitted to its own reconciliation journey and to supporting others with theirs through education, the BC Chamber of Commerce invites you to “Embracing Truth: Honouring the National Day for Reconciliation“, a virtual event that will provide perspective, enable understanding and encourage reconciliation and collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in British Columbia.\nKeynote speaker: Chris Sankey\nIndigenous Affairs & Economic Reconciliation Advocate\nChris Sankey is committed to “strengthening communities, one person at a time to achieve communal prosperity”, helping him do business with small, mid-size and large corporations throughout Canada, United States, and overseas in the Oil and Gas sector.\nHe is a member of the Coast Tsimshian community of Lax Kw’Alaams near Prince Rupert, British Columbia and was a former elected Councillor for the Lax Kw’alaams Band where he served his community for six and a half years, and the former Chair of the Economic Development Committee for the Governing Council.\nClick here to register for this external event ( https://bcchamber.glueup.com/event/embracing-truth-honouring-the-national-day-for-reconciliation-85362/ ).\nEXTERNAL: We are sharing this event on behalf of our friends at the BC Chamber of Commerce.  The event is not being hosted by Whistler Public Library, and therefore may be updated, changed, or canceled with little notice.\n
