Chasing Adventure: In Conversation with Lisa Duncan and Tamar Glouberman

Join debut Sea to Sky authors Lisa Duncan and Tamar Glouberman at Whistler Public Library! They’ll discuss balancing the pull of adventure with the weight of guilt and fear, the importance of nature in their stories and their lives, and the nuts and bolts of publishing their memoirs. The event will feature dialogue between the two writers, a Q&A with the audience, readings from both books, and perhaps a few slides from their adventures.

Registration is encouraged! Email to sign up.

Both books will be for sale at the event, courtesy of Armchair Books. This event is presented with support from Douglas & McIntyre and Rocky Mountain Books.

About the authors:

Tamar Glouberman has spent much of her life working as an outdoor guide. That career has given her opportunities to work and travel in exotic places such as the Galapagos, Zambia and Peru, but she’s most grateful that it’s allowed her to enjoy many adventures in remote areas of North America, among wild rivers and grizzly bears. When she’s not off exploring the wilderness, she lives in beautiful Whistler, BC. Tamar is a graduate of the Creative Writing MFA program at UBC. The adventure memoir, Chasing Rivers: A Whitewater Life is her first book.

Lisa Duncan’s love of nature and outdoor pursuits have taken her all over the world. Lisa has been an educator for over two decades, teaching Japanese as a second language and visual art for most of her career. She holds a BA in art history and a MA in environmental education and communication. In the fall of 2022, she completed the Whistler Writers in Residence program. When Lisa isn’t teaching or writing, she spends her time hiking, running and biking the trails near her home in Squamish, BC. Chasing Africa: Fear Won’t Find Me Here (Rocky Mountain Books) is her debut memoir.

The event is finished.
