EXTERNAL: Building Resilient Workers

Building Resilient Workers is a series of five workshops for Newcomers and Immigrants to learn about Health and Safety at Work. The series aims to assist ESL speakers in acquiring knowledge and vocabulary related to Health & Safety at Work, understanding their rights regarding safety in the workplace, and gaining insight into WorkSafe BC processes.

This series will cover five modules:

  • Rights & responsibilities at work
  • Hazards in the workplace
  • Workplace First Aid
  • Ergonomics
  • Workplace violence

Reading, writing, and oral communication activities are embedded in the workplace health & safety content. These workshops will give you extra practice in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.

The instructor: Ana Fortes da Silva, from Capilano University’s Community Development and Outreach department, will lead the series. She teaches University Success Strategy and Adult Literacy programs on the North Shore, with a background in Health & Safety and experience with newcomers.

✅ The sessions will be delivered online through Zoom.
