EXTERNAL: National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebrations at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre

Celebrate the spirit of Skw̲xw̲ú7mesh and Líl̓wat7úl at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre to honour National Indigenous Peoples Day from June 21 – July 3, 2022. Connect with Cultural Ambassadors as they share live carving, performances, storytelling and guided tours of the museum – Whistler’s authentic Indigenous experience.

Join an immersive Paddling through the Nations tour and carving of the Community Reconciliation Canoe, and experience the new exhibition – Ancient Medicine: From Feast to Famine to Freedom. Explore authentic First Nations artwork and keepsakes in the Gallery and Gift Shop, and enjoy Indigenous-inspired cuisine at the Thunderbird Café.

Highlights:

National Indigenous Peoples Day – Tuesday, June 21: Ancient Medicines Exhibition Opening, performances by Spiritual Warriors and the Spo7ez Performance Team. Live Canoe carving, Artists Market and craft activities throughout the day.

Thursday, June 23: Ed NoiseCat Pole Awakening Ceremony

Canada Day – Friday, July 1: Performances by Spo7ez Performance Team, Speaker series and spoken word performances with Cultural Ambassadors, and hourly guided tours including the Paddling through the Nations Tour and immersive live carving of the Community Reconciliation Canoe, and the new Ancient Medicine Exhibition.
