EXTERNAL: Sisters in Spirit Vigil

Join in a procession and gathering to advocate for and honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls on the National Day of Action.

The procession will start at the Welcome Figure by Mongolie Grill and Shopper’s Drug Mart and participants will walk through the Village Stroll to the Olympic Plaza Pole*

On October 4, on the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited (MMIWG2S), the Sisters in Spirit Vigil shines a light on one of Canada’s dark realities – that for decades, Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA people have been murdered, abused, or disappeared at shockingly high rates.

Whether you are personally affected by this crisis or want to be an active ally, the Whistler’s Sisters in Spirit Vigil invites participants to hear from impacted individuals and families, witness each speaker’s truth, share compassion for the heartache they carry, and promote awareness and advocacy to create social change.

*If poor weather conditions, the alternate location will be at the Maury Young Arts Centre.
