EXTERNAL: Truth and Reconciliation Week Lunch and Learns

Reconciliation Starts with Education

Learning and commemorating the truth of our history from First Nations, Métis, and Inuit knowledge keepers is an important part on the path of reconciliation. Interested in learning more? During Truth and Reconciliation Week 2023, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) invites you to join their daily lunch and learns for an immersive experience to UN-learn the myths of colonial history in Canada.

These free virtual lunch sessions (50min) will feature a range of speakers and will provide audience members with the opportunity to ask questions and engage in further conversations.
Topics include:

  • Day 1, Monday, September 25: Indigenous peoples and the History of Residential Schools
  • Day 2, Tuesday, September 26: Unconscious bias and debunking stereotypes
  • Day 3, Wednesday, September 27: Intergenerational impacts and ongoing systemic discrimination
  • Day 4, Thursday, September 28: Indigenous peoples’ rights and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
