Legal Advocacy at the Library

A Legal Advocate is at the library every 4th Wednesday from 12 to 2 p.m. for drop-in conversations – no appointment necessary.

The Sea to Sky Community Services Society Legal Advocacy Program offers free advocacy support and assistance to financially restricted individuals and families in Squamish, Whistler, and Pemberton.

The Legal Advocate provides one-on-one legal advice to low-income clients.

This ranges from referrals to summary advice to full representation—and the Legal Advocate also offers public education, information, guidance, and mediation support across a variety of legal topics, such as:

  • Housing, including residential tenancy disputes
  • Employment issues related to employment insurance and employment standards
  • Income assistance, such as disability applications and appeals, information on rights and benefits
  • Canada Pension Plan Disability (CPP-D) and Persons With Disabilities (PWD) appeals
  • Consumer and debt issues
