Money Matters Finance Series

Whether you think that loving it is the root of all evil, or that it makes the world go around, money (and financial literacy) is an important part of today’s society. This three part series will help you understand the basic principles of personal finance, and how it affects your life.

Part One: The Introduction (February 16)
In this session, we introduce several financial concepts that lay the foundations of the series. They include:

  • The Four Pillar Approach to Personal finance
  • Money, Income and Wealth
  • Spending and Budgeting
  • Compound Interest and Borrowing
  • 50 Shades of Debt

 

Part Two: Keeping Money – Taxes & Basic Investments (March 16)
One of our four pillars is keeping your money. This session introduces us to the tax system (most specifically income tax) and some basic investments.  Topics Include:

  • Taxation in Canada
  • Progressive Income Taxes
  • RRSPs and TFSAs
  • Some Basic financial Investments

 

Part Three: Keeping More Money (April 20)
This part goes further into detail on investments. We continue our discussion from the previous lesson and discuss the following:

  • More Stocks & Bonds
  • Mutual Funds and Exchange Traded Funds
  • Levered Investments
  • Real Estate
  • Other Investment Types

This program is being offered both in-person and on Zoom – please let us know your preference when you sign up.
