Seed Swap Saturday with AWARE
We’re excited to co-host AWARE’s annual Seed Swap on April 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Community Room, with a presentation from Herbalist & Retired Certified Organic Grower Barb Hinde at 2 p.m. and the Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council (SSISC) at 2:30 p.m. Say goodbye to buying packs of seeds when you only need a few! Bring your partially used seed packs and trade to grow new flowers and foods at home.
In these talks, all-around plant geek Barb will cover the basics and importance of seed saving, how to get best results by saving the right seeds, and preparing your garden beds for the season ahead. SSISC will give a short talk on which invasives are our biggest threat (you’d be surprised to know!) and how to dispose of them safely. There will be time for a Q&A following the presentations.
Registration is required for this event! Email publicservices@whistlerlibrary.ca to sign up. If you’d like to submit questions for the speakers ahead of the event, please send them to Jeanette at jbruce@whistlerlibrary.ca!
This program is presented in partnership with AWARE Whistler. Did you know that we have a Seed Library? Located with the gardening books, the Whistler Seed Library is a partnership program between AWARE Whistler and Whistler Public Library. All Whistler residents are welcome to contribute and take seeds home. No library card needed!
