Sewing Machine Basics
Are you inspired by the idea of sewing but don’t know where to start? Maybe you have a sewing machine at home gathering dust?
Join us for this beginner-friendly session for folks who are curious about borrowing one of our sewing machines or getting to know theirs better. We’ll cover the absolute basics of machine set-up to get you comfortable using your machine.
If you have a sewing machine, bring it along – please make sure you have needle/s, a bobbin and thread for your machine, and some good scissors. If you have a manual, bring that as well (or see if you can find one on Google).
We will have a couple of machines for the group to use, along with fabric and some extra tools for hands-on learning. Please note we won’t be working on a specific project, just practicing techniques to get you started.
Registration is required for this session! Email publicservices@whistlerlibrary.ca to sign up – please let us know if you’re bringing a sewing machine or would like to try one of the library’s machines. This program is designed for adults.
If you already know how to use a machine and sew your own projects, this isn’t the session for you, but we recommend checking out creativebug for patterns and inspiration, free with your library card!
