Sundays Under the Sea with Julie

Join us in Florence Petersen Park for some wild & wonderful nature discovery time! We’ll get creative, crafty, and science-y with games, stories, and hands-on activities about the depths of the ocean.
This program with Julie will take place on Sundays, July 12 & 26, August 9 & 23, 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Florence Petersen Park. Dress for the weather and look for Julie on a picnic blanket by the big trees.
This program is for all ages, and no registration is required! Kids in grade 3 & under, please bring a grown up; kids in grade 4 & up, no caregiver required.
Weekly Themes:
July 12: Treasures of the Sea – We’ll read stories about shipwrecks, pirates, and walking the plank, and we’ll follow clues in the forest to find buried treasures for hands-on experimenting & art!
July 26: Dolphin Play – We’ll get splashing with underwater communication & sound experiments, create a collaborative sidewalk chalk art mural, and have a splashy, spinning dolphin play relay.
August 9: Great Depths of the Sea – We’ll venture out on a scavenger hunt, explore different light zones and the weird & wonderful creatures from the deepest, darkest depths of the sea, and have some fun with sensory play, sand art, and squid races.
August 23: Staying Clear of Murky Waters – We’ll do some hands-on experimenting about waves, water purifiers, the forces of erosion, and the natural buffers that help keep our oceans clean with healthy, biodiverse shorelines.
