Systemic Racism: Let Your Voice be Heard

While often we understand racism to be perpetuated through individual actions as a result of individuals’ ideas and beliefs, systemic racism occurs through implicit and explicit biases resulting in inequalities that are built into services, systems, and structures, that disadvantage people based on their race. But, “systemic, institutional, and structural racism do not rely on the actions of racist people or racist ideas and beliefs…..” (OBI UC Berkeley)

On Wednesday, September 20, the Whistler Multicultural Society will be presenting the findings of a racism survey carried out across the Sea to Sky and exploring how systemic racism is making accessing government programs and services harder for many people in B.C.

Join the conversation and share your thoughts on how we can address racism in our local community, and how government can work to solve systemic racism through anti-racism legislation.

Everyone is welcome – this discussion is a judgment-free zone where every voice matters. We hope that you’ll join us in contributing to a powerful dialogue that can drive positive change for all our community members.
