The Whistler Men’s Circle will be a drop-in weekly meeting, for up to 10 men, who would like to explore their experience of being a man in today’s world in a safe and supportive space. The space will be facilitated by the Whistler Community Services Society, and hosted at the Whistler Library, but it is primarily a peer-led group, where men will lead each other through learning and growth.
The weekly meeting space will run from 6 to 7 p.m. at Whistler Public Library, with the majority of time going towards a structured sharing circle on a wide variety of themes and subjects related to living as a man in Whistler, and the end of the session being open for light-hearted connection. There will be guest speakers and workshops scheduled for a number of weeks during the 6-week running time of this men’s circle, covering themes like resiliency and the importance of exercise for mental wellbeing. Other themes that we will look to discuss in the weekly meetings are – struggles that come with being a man in today’s society; how to live with authenticity and examining our relationships with alcohol and substances to find healthy balance in life. There will be time during the 6-week running of the men’s circle for new themes and topics to be suggested by group members as well.
There are no attendance costs to the weekly meetings, but we do ask that men who attend come with an open mind and a desire to learn about themselves, and to listen to others, so a strong foundation can be built for self-discovery, vulnerability and growth within the men’s circle. We look forward to seeing you and connecting as a circle of men, seeking to show up in Whistler and the world as our most authentic selves.
