Whistler Writers Festival: Journalism 101 – A Workshop for Middle-Graders

Join award-winning CBC Radio host, journalist and author Gregor Craigie (Sticking to the Facts: 10 Ways to Fight Misinformation) for an hour-long journalism workshop for middle-grade participants who want to try their hand at reporting. This class will give a brief overview of choosing a topic, researching it, conducting interviews, considering other perspectives, then writing a report. It will be an interactive presentation, asking participants to weigh in regularly over the course of the hour, and will offer practical solutions for participants in how to start reporting as soon as they get home — interviewing a family member, covering a local event, writing a headline on a shared topic, and brainstorming topics.
