Under the Sea! Summer Programs for Kids

Summer is here! We’re excited to offer a wide variety of activities and events for kids of all ages and their grown-ups. Whether you love reading, drawing, writing, building, or exploring the outdoors, we’ve got something for you.

Read on to learn all about our summer program line-up! Sign up for any of our registered programs using our Summer Program Registration form.

Reading Records

Let’s avoid the summer slide, and keep our kids reading with BC Summer Reading Club!

With a Reading Record, kids can set their own goals, using their preferred method of reading – ebooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, whatever they enjoy! A digital version of the Reading Record is available, along with virtual events, activities, and contests throughout the summer. The 2026 online platform launches on Monday, June 15.

Visit the library each week to receive a sticker for completed goals, and enter our weekly prize draw. Kids who complete their entire Reading Record will receive a Summer Reading Club Medal and be entered in our Grand Prize Draw on September 8!

Visit the library on or after Thursday, June 25 to pick up a Reading Record!

Summer Mystery Game

Our Lucky Catch Summer Mystery Game challenges every kid to become the next Dread Pirate Boberts!

The Lucky Catch (the fiercest ship on the seven seas) is missing its Ships Wheel at one of eight possible locations. Each week, kids will find a new puzzle at the library – solving it will help them eliminate one of the locations.

Show a library worker the correct location for the week and get an entry in the weekly prize draw. Solve the mystery and claim the title of Dread Pirate Boberts to be entered in our Grand Prize Draw on September 8!

Programs for School-Aged Kids

Registration is required for all of these programs!

Registration for these events opens on Monday, June 15 at 10 a.m. and the grades below are as of September 2026. Click here to access our registration form.

A quick note for families: our Summer Reading Club programs are tailored to specific age groups so kids can get the most out of each session.

A grown-up is required to attend with kids in grades 1 to 3 so that they can participate with their child.

We kindly ask that only registered children within the program age range attend. While we know it’s not always easy, we’re not able to host younger siblings during these programs, as it can be distracting for the parent and the group. Thanks so much for helping us keep things fun and focused for everyone!
