Whistler Public Library invites local artists to submit designs to be used on branded items in celebration of our 40th birthday! Our goal is to launch a limited run of library-branded merchandise (which may include tote bags, hats, stickers, and more) that the community will be able to purchase later this year. This merchandise will help us build greater visibility in the community and give our supporters the opportunity to show off their love of the library.
In our ongoing efforts to support the local arts community, the library is looking for artists living in Whistler and the surrounding region (WedgeWoods to Black Tusk Village), and members of the Squamish Nation and Lil’wat Nation, whose shared, unceded territories the library serves to submit designs to be used on our library-branded merchandise. By featuring work from a local artist, we aim to highlight the thriving arts scene in our community.
The library was established in 1986 and originally operated out of the basement of what was then the Resort Municipality of Whistler’s Municipal Hall. Over the past 40 years, we’ve grown and transformed into the vibrant, much-loved “Community Living Room” that folks know today.
Submissions are encouraged to reflect this evolution, honouring the library’s journey while also nodding to our retro roots. Artists may also draw inspiration from the library’s mission, “to create opportunities for discovery and connection,” and our vision of “an inspired, informed, and engaged community.”
The submission deadline is Friday, April 24, 2026 at 9 a.m. and the successful artist will be announced the week of May 4, 2026. The artist of the chosen design will receive $500 for licensing their artwork.
